About Valfrejus

Valfrejus is a small town situated in the Savoie region of the French Alps. Although a fairly new town, the population is over 3700 residents. A favourite destination for families and ski hires, this region is access able by the Frejus Tunnels which connect to the French and Italian rail and motorways. This town is open for year round recreation and particularly in the winter, where ski hires are available for every member of the family. A new six person gondola will open in December of 2010 and the lifts go to the top station at Punta Bagna, 2737m above sea level. The town has strict building guidelines so that all buildings and houses are uniform Savoyard chalet style which fit neatly into the Larch and Spruce forest. Valfrejus, first developed in the 80's, is a charming, traditional ski resort nestled into the forested slopes of the Maurienne Valley and is one of the last ski areas to be built in the French Alps. As for the skiing, this area is technical enough with a surprising amount of vertical for a resort of this size.

Restaurants on top of the mountain offer spectacular views of the other small towns and ski areas up and down the valley.

There is a large park and playground where the kids can play or take them to a hiking trail for kids that is not too steep and they can take all their pictures. For the truly brave, rock climbing classes are available, as are hang gliding off the mountain.
