About Meribel les Allues
Meribel 1100, the famous skiing resort in the French Alps, is located in the Savoie Department's Les Allues commune. Meribel, founded in 1938 by British Colonel Peter Linsday, is made up of three small villages, Meribel-Mottaret, Meribel Center and Meribel Village and these all lies within the Vanoise National Park. Moutiers is the nearest town of any substance and, once there, visitors can take the train to Lyons, Paris or other centers. The Meribel 1100 ski hire facilities and skiing area are part of the Trois Vallees Ski Resort, which has over 600km of ski runs and is simply the biggest ski resort in the world. Instead of three valleys, however, the resort actually covers four valleys: Saint-Bon, Allues, Belleville and Maurienne which, between them, host eight resorts of which Meribel in the Allues Valley is one.
