About Les Carroz d'Araches
Les Carroz is located in the Haute Savoy region of the French Alps with fantastic views of the surrounding peaks. It is located on a mountain plateau at 3743 feet above sea level in the Savoie province bordered on the north and east by Switzerland and on the south and east by Italy. It is only a one hour drive from Geneva, Switzerland where the closest airport is located. It’s a small town with a year round population of about 475. Les Carroz ski hire shops are plentiful and competitive.

Les Carroz has quite a few restaurants from the pizza and burger joints to the more formal. There are some non-traditional places to eat also. One is an igloo and another is a Mongolian style tent. Both are open for lunch and dinner but reservations are required for dinner. There are about twice as many restaurants as shops for ski hire in Les Carroz. For the dance crowd there is a nightclub/disco complete with lasers and cages and the entire expected youth crowd to boot. But that is what Les Carroz is about, a quiet, family, skiing atmosphere with spectacular scenery. If you want big noise and lots to do, there are other ski areas for that. Les Carroz has its own niche. Parking here is free and a shuttle bus also can provide transportation from selected stops in town to the ski pistes. If you want, you can do hot air ballooning. There is an annual hot air balloon festival, Les Montgolfiades des Carroz. Paragliding and Hang Gliding are also available for the adventurous types.

Geneva, Switzerland is only an hour drive away and it is an option for day excursions. Sightseeing, shopping, and a view to one of the most picturesque lakes are all included in the city. Switzerland has 265 castles and 10 of them are in Geneva. There are more than 30 museums and art galleries to visit. Another stop could include a tour of the Botanical Gardens and Conservatory. It is open year round and admission is free.
