La Plagne Belle-Plagne La Plagne is located near Albertville, the French location of the 1992 Olympic Winter Games. The famous ski resort in the alpine valley of the Tarentaise (Savoie) was founded in 1961 to replace a struggling mining and farming industry in the area. With only 1600 permanent inhabitants the hotels have a capacity for 50.000 guests during December and April of each year.
At an elevation of 1250 meters above sea level La Plagne is a complex of 11 different stations that go up to 3250 meters. The resorts are quite different from each other and offer a great variety for every guest. 4 of them are in a village in the valley, 7 of them are on the mountain directly at the bottom of the slopes.
Most visitors enjoy themselves on ski tours and use the Belle Plagne ski hire service. Besides Alpine skiing, also Nordic and Free Style skiing and Snowboarding is offered on 100 square kilometers. 225 km of slopes range from beginners to expert level. The modern lift system includes cable cars, drag and seat lifts as well as gondolas. A free bus connects the resorts, so that everyone can enjoy a carfree vacation.

Plagne Centre was the first resort of La Plagne and offers a great infra structure with shops, the ski hire Belle Plagne and other services for all seasons. From Plagne Centre you have a spectacular view on the mountain peaks in the area. Belle Plagne is the youngest and maybe most beautiful part of La Plagne. With it's wooden houses it has the charme of a Savoyan village at an elevation of 2050 m.
Indoor sports in La Plagne include several public swimming pools, squash courts, ice-skating, paintball and a bowling alley. The Olympic bobsleighing track of La Plagne is unique in France.
Then, after a long day in the fresh open air, it is nice to relax with a dinner next to a warm fireplace or a visit to the sauna. Visitors that want to enjoy cultural activities have many options as well. The Basilica of Saint Martin in the valley of Aime is an impressive monument of early Roman architecture. It's choir is decorated with frescos from the 12th century.

For everyone who enjoys fishing and marching through nature, the Isère river and numerous clear water mountain lakes are closeby. La Plagne together with Les Arcs form the new and even bigger "Paradiski Dream Resort". All Paradiski ski passes are valid for both areas and invite for an excursion. Les Arcs has separate ski hires and transportation of equipment is not necessary.
