Courchevel 1850 Courchevel 1850 is a ski resort in the French Alps, containing 1,304 acres of mountain open for all sorts of winter sports. It is part of the largest ski area in the world, Les Trois Vallées, and linked with the rest of the world by a highway and an airport with one of the shortest runways in the world.

As a ski resort the main attraction of Courchevel 1850 are its 150 kilometers of downhill pistes, among them some of the most difficult black runs to be found on this planet. From beginning to the end of the season snow is guaranteed – if not by the weather then by more than 500 snow cannons that provide snow for the many sports events organized by the resort each year. Courchevel is also home to a large number of cultural events, and to a virtual museum.

The number in the towns name refers to its highest point. Who likes to go hiking will enjoy the fantastic landscape the area has to offer, both in summer and in winter. In 1992, the valley hosted the ski jump of the Winter Olympics in Albertville, and the town of La Tania, not far from Courchevel 1850, was build as competitors accommodation for the Olympic Games - and its ski pistes are still worth a visit!
