About Chamrousse

Chamrousse is a little French village in the region of Rhone-Alpes. Round about 500 People lives there at a heigth of 2105 metres. It is a famous wintersport place and ski hire in Chamrousse is obvious. There are 92 kilometres of ski runs, 37 kilometres of skiing trails, a air railway a lot of ski lifts and chairlifts. It is next to Grenoble, 30 km eastwards from there. That’s why many young people of Grenoble learn skiing in the hills of Belledonne. It is very easy for families with children to stay in Chamrousse, because there is kindergarten for babies and children. In 1911 was build the first ski hut. Of course at that time without Chamrousse ski hire. In the 1950th starts the development of the well-known wintersport area in the Department Isere. Later, there took place a part of the Olympic winter games in 1968. Today belongs to the community of Chamrousse also the villages La Roche Beranger, Bachat-Bouloud and Le Recoin.

It put up the third biggest art collection in France. If you don’t have desire, to drive with car in that exiting ville, you can spend time near Chamrousse. In the ville of Uriage are a thermal spa and a casino. Near the Luitel-lake is the oldest French nature reserve, with an 18 ha wooden fen. By the way, Jean Alexis Achard, -its gave the lake his name-, he was a Painter in the 18th. His landscape-paintings are in the Grenoble art museum.
