About Albiez Montrond

The magic mountain landscape of Albiez in France is characterized by two villages: Albiez-le-Jeune and Albiez-Montrond. These country sites are situated on an open high plateau at the foot of the mountains named „aiguille d’arves“ in the center of the mountainous ridge of the Maurienne. The territory belongs to the department of Savoie with its 37 cantons and 305 boroughs. The ten villages belonging together are called les Sybelles. Albiez is reachable by daily shuttle trains from Lyon and Grenoble.

Albiez-Montrond is located at a height of 1.500 m and just a winter sport paradise. Cross-country ski slopes, a floodlight piste, ski pistes of all levels, ski schools and a stunning mountain panorama feature both of the villages of Albiez.

Albiez-Le-Jeune is situated at 1.200 m, surrounded with mountains up to 2.140 m. One of the natural points of attraction is the so-called monk of Champlan just in the center of the plateau.

The typical houses with wooden cladding, the pensions and restaurants invite the guest to stay and just taste the savoyan meals or specialties like cheese and typical mountain bread. The colorful costume festival in spring is one nice attraction more to join.

A diversity of sports exists at Albiez from 1.200 up to over 2000 m during summer and winter for people of all ages and especially for children. The long snow season can be filled with ski-run, ski touring, snowboarding, snowshoeing, bobsledding, dog sledding and hiking and a lot of special guides offer their service for all kinds of sport.

In summer paragliding is possible and also swimming in mountain lakes, biking, mountain biking and naturally a visit in the wonderful open air swimming pools of the nearby wellness center with pools of a constant temperature of 28°.

During wintertime 50 ha of alpine ski territory with 40 km of cross-country-skiing, 22 skipistes of all levels such as 3 of green level, 8 of blue, 9 of red and 2 of black level invite you to enjoy intense winter sport training. Moreover there are 13 mechanical lifts, 2 chairlifts and 8 cable lifts to use.
