About Valberg

Located fifteen hundred meters above sea level in the beautiful French Alps is the town of Valberg. Valberg is a little more than one hour from Nice. It is part of the Valberg-Beuil ski area.

There are over ninety kilometers of pisted skiing and twenty one kilometers of cross country skiing. Rent a snowboard in one of the many ski hire shops and go snowboarding. Try snowboarding at the snow park before attempting the large areas on the mountain. There is ice skating and sledding for the whole family. There is even a secured park for the children to sleigh in. For more excitement ice climbing is available. The necessary equipment is available at the Valberg ski hire shop.
Summers are wonderful in Valberg. One can go hiking through green pastures or up the side of a mountain. Learn how to fly a radio controlled airplane off a mountainside. There are lessons offered at the piloting school. Horseback riding can be found at Le Lagas Ranch. The horses are available throughout the year. The landscape in Valberg is incredible with beautiful red gorges.
There are numerous craft shows during the summer months. Learn how to weave a basket or watch the sheep get shorn. Try some of the local delicacies while you walk down one of the streets. Enjoy quiet time at one of the many masses held on the mountainside. Take pictures of the medieval villages that still remain here.

Take time to see some of the sights in Valberg. Hike up the Planetary Trail and see the solar system that is up in a natural environment. Continue your hike until you get to Notre Dame des Neiges Church. Spend a day in the Mercantour National Park. It is famous for the wildlife that is protected here. You might see an owl or an Ibex that lives in the park. Stop at the reception desk for a brochure that will help identify some of the flora that can be found here. There are snowshoes available at one of the many ski hire shops so you can hike here during the winter months.
