Puy St Vincent 1400 Puy St. Vincent 1400 is a quaint ski resort located in the French Alps in the town of Les Ecrin. It is part of the largest ski area in France, which is divided into levels at 1,400 and 1,600 meters, covering more than 92,000 acres. There are two other skiing areas at 1,700 and 1,800 meters. The mountain’s summit climbs up to 2,800 meters. In winter, Puy St. Vincent has a population 10,000 people; much less in the summertime. The resort is about two hours by car from the nearest airports in Turin and Grenoble.

Puy St. Vincent 1400 has two ski hire shops, one located at the 1,400 meter level, one is higher up the mountain. The Puy St. Vincent 1400 ski hire specialize in downhill and cross-country skis and snowboards for all of the slopes and meadows, including the more complex black diamond trails at higher elevations. Some will make recommendations for ski equipment, while others will let skiers and snowboarders choose their own accessories. Ski hire poles come with every set, while boots are optional.
There is not a lot of activity in Puy St. Vincent 1400, which is situated in the Haute Alps. This makes it an ideal getaway for a romantic weekend or for those that prefer to curl up in solitude for a quiet evening. With only three hotels, it is a little less frenzied than the Puy St. Vincent 1600. It is also a nice place for families, with a nearby movie theatre and a couple of restaurants to keep people busy. There are also a few bars at the lower altitude resort. Other activities include skating, paragliding and dog sledding. A strip shopping mall at the 1600 level has more activities, and there are other accommodations, as well.
With six man-made snow cannons, activity is busy from December to March and sometimes April for ski hire. Puy St. Vincent 1400 has 13 trails, ranging from beginner to expert.

For daytrips, check out the nearby mountain towns of Vallouise, Les Albers, Les Pres and Le Villaret. The historic village Le Puy is famous for its many churches, with a variety of restaurants and hotels sprinkled throughout. The breathtaking view of Ecrin National Park overlooks the Vallouise Valley. Two other ski resorts, Pelvoux and Briancon, are near ski hire in Puy St. Vincent 1400. These can be visited on a special week-long pass for the whole area.
