About Embrun
In the region of Hautes-Alpes lies the city Embrun, up 871 m above the sea immediate at the bank of the Durance. Embrun lies on the hill Le Roc and accommodates about 6.400 inhabitants. The capital Gap is 38 km and the city Briancon is 52 km far away.

Embrun is a known seaside resort, which would be supplied with water through the reservoir Serre-Poncon. Moreover attract an old Franciscan monastery of the 12th century, which was the former palace from the archbishop, and the cathedral Saint-Etienne, with her gothic transmission, which was built in the 12th century. The cathedral has a beautiful hall called Réal and there are two pink column with two lions of stone. One of the lions hold a children, the other holds a dog. The windows are from the 15th century and there is a treasury which showed the old religious art objects from the time as the archbishop lived. 2008 the Tour de France were here for two stage starts.
