About Peyragudes

The Peyragudes Ski Resort is located in the Lachonnais area of the Haute-Garonne Department of the Pyrenees Region of France. The beauty of this resort was featured in the pre-title sequence of the James Bond movie titled Tomorrow Never Dies. In the film the Peyresourde ski station was transformed into an arms bazaar near the Russian border. The resort has several airports that are close. It can also be reached by road and rail. In 2006 the Peyragudes installed a new high speed lift that is capable of carrying 2,500 skiers per hour. The resort features lifts that ranges from 1600m to 2400m. It offers 45km of lift served runs and 15 km of cross county runs. There are 5 beginner trails, 20 intermediate, and 15 advanced trails.The Peyragudes ski hire offers rental skis and the opportunity to sign up for lessons if needed. The resort also has 3 curls to go through in snowshoes. There is a snow park the features hips, handrails, tables, and big airs, and a boardercross area that is 2600m long. Both areas are maintained daily. Should you require any equipment for either the snowshoeing or boarding the ski hire Peyragudes offers rental equipment or you can buy your own. The resort recently installed 80 new snow cannons. They now have a total of 180 snow cannons throughout the area.

There are also several things for children to do while the adults have fun. There are two nurseries that can handle kids between the ages of 18 months to 6 years old. The Garden of Snow is available for children under 4 years old. Children 6-12 can search for traces of wild animals. They will be part of a group that meets at the Ski hire in Peyragudes and will be led be a guide with snowshoes on a search for wild animal tracks.

There are several attractions other than skiing in the area. The resort has a Thermoludic center that is divided in to three different spaces. Two of them offer swimming, saunas, lagoons with hydrotherapy and more. The other space is for things such as aromatherapy and hot stone messages. The ski hire also offers dogsleds, paragliding, and trekking. There is a cinema, casino, the Pyrenees National Park, Lourdes caves, the Gavarnie circus, and the Bridge of Spain. You may also want to visit Luz-Ardiden. The city has kept its heritage but managed to be the Finish line for the Tour-de-France several times.
