About St. Leonhard im Pitztal

St. Leonhard im Pitztal At 223.4 square kilometers and 7 people per kilometer, Pitztal Valley's St Leonhard is one of Austria's most sparsely populated communities. Located in the Imst District of the state of Tyrol, St Leonhard is home to Wildspitze, which, at 3,774m high, is one of Austria's highest mountains. As the region consists of long, narrow north-south oriented valleys, winter weather is severe and crops grow only four months out of every twelve. This severe winter weather is, of course, ideal for skiing and ski hire.

Show sights

Apart from its wonderful skiing and ski hire facilities, St Leonhard guards the ancient Church of St Leonard, Abbot of Limoges. The church, consecrated in 1778, was built on the site of another, older, chapel and here you can view the beautiful statues of St Aloysius and Mary Immaculate.

Show destinations

But the area's main attraction is its skiing facilities with the St Leonhard ski hire shop and the magnificent Pitztal Glacier complex witch is only a day trip away from St Leonhard. What skier would not be thrilled to ride the funicular up the mountain and to catch the gondola to the glacier's high-altitude skiing track? There is no doubt: world-class skiing and ski hire opportunities await the visitor to St Leonhard.
