Village information Pertisau am Achensee, Austria

About Pertisau am Achensee

Pertisau am Achensee Pertisau, a village in the Schwaz District, lies on the western shores of Achensee, the largest lake in Tyrol. Pertisau seems to float sleepily against the backdrop of the majestic Karwendel Alps but, in fact, conducts most of the lake's shipping business. It has a population of 460 and, come the winter months, most of them will be involved in skiing and ski hire activities as Pertisau fronts several of Austria's world renowned ski resorts.

Show sights

Pertisau has many attractions apart from skiing and ski hire and tourists should visit the Vitalberg Museum, marvel at the parish church designed by Clemens Holzmeister and investigate the origins of Tyrolean rock oil. Another must see is the Furstenhaus, a country residence of Emperor Maximilian I.

Show destinations

There is skiing and ski hire galore on the slopes above Pertisau at the Planberg Weisenlifte and the Karwendel Bergbahn ski resorts. With one easy trail, Planberg caters for beginners while Karwendel, with eight easy and eight intermediate trails, attracts the more advanced skier. During the summer months and while waiting for the Pertisau ski hire shops to open again, tourists should enjoy walking the mountain paths, kite-surfing as well as the many water sports Achensee Lake has to offer.
