About Fieberbrunn
Fieberbrunn is a small market and resort town with a population of 4,200 in Tyrol, Austria, in the Kitzbuhel Alps. Fieberbrunn, or “fever fountain,” is named after a historical incident where the Tyrolean crown princess Margarethe Maultasch drank from the church fountain and was cured of her fever. The town was formerly called Pramau, which means blackberry bush in old German. Fieberbrunn is located at 800m in the Pillersee Valley near both riverside and lakeside. It provides easy access to 35km of downhill slopes between 800m and 2020m of varying levels of difficulty. There are plenty of ski hire shops in Fieberbrunn. Fieberbrunn is part of the Schneewinkl ski area. One lift pass provides you with access to the other resorts in the area, all with their own ski hire shops. International snowboard events like Lords of the Boards and Snow Fever take place in Fieberbrunn every year. Show sights
Fieberbrunn is also the center of the trendy new sport of snowkiting, in which you are towed around on your board or skis over jumps as high as a meter. Besides being a base for hiking and many other outdoor activities, Fieberbrunn has other attractions you shouldn’t pass over. The village church, built in 1214, is dedicated to the patron saints Primus and Felizian. This Baroque church has been substantially renovated 3 times, but still maintains its charm. Fieberbrunn has many castles, today most of which serve as hotels. It is said that Napolean spent a night at Castle Rosenegg, built in 1187 by the Baron Rosenegg.
