About Bad Gastein
Bad Gastein basks in fresh mountain air and fog free. It´s in the mid of the Hohe Tauern National park setting 1000 meters above sea level. In the last century Bad Gastein called Wildbad or Wildbad Gastein. In the middle of 19th century its name was Wildbad-Böckstein. On January 1st in 1997 it’s got a new name: Bad Gastein.
Bad Gastein have round about 5835 townsfolk. Bad Gastein`s community is Bad Gastein, too. Political area is Sankt Johann. Bad Gastein is in the south of Gasteinertal. You will find a ski hire Bad Gastein here. In winter time you are able to skiing. There’s no river in Bad Gastein, but a waterfall. The waterfall is in the middle of Bad Gastein. In the near is Böckstein a historic town, too. Once was Bad Gastein a glamorous town for rich people but after the two world wars, it wasn’t able to hold this. So starts in 1946 the Wintersports-Tourism. And then because of the thermal water many health resorts opened.

Bad Gastein have also thermal springs and thermal water. In the 7th century the discovery of the Gastein springs occurred. The thermal water is weakly mineralized. It contains radon and has at temperature of 44-47 C°. It’s naturally heated water and protect from influx of surface water.
The Gastein Museum in the House Austria shows a lot of local traditions. There are collected minerals with information about the history of mining and hunting. Exhibits are related to local folk customs. For example the traditional wooden Perchten masks.

Then you could make a trip to the Böckstein open air museum. It´s a historic open air museum with washhouse, stable, manager´s house and store. In the middle of the museum is not a ski hire but a Salzstadl (salt room).
And of course you could visit the 3 churches. They called: St. Nicholas Church, Parish Church and the "Maria of the Good Counsel Pilgimage Church" in Böckstein.
